Got almost 9 inches in the southern Willamette valley, heard some scouting reports of big flights of birds in the area. It is supposed to be clear in the morning with temps in the low teens to single digits. Last cold weather we had the birds held tight. I'm not sure if opening a hole in the ice will work if there not moving....the williy could be epic if the birds moved in.....

Anybody gonna try??

Do you have short hair or something? Bring a Mr. heater. These are the days you want to be out as the birds commit very well. Didn't have a shot over 18 yards today.
Cut Um!
Real ducks don't have a competition sequence they follow! Hint, hint!

Went out with a buddy yesterday for a quick, late morning hunt and I shot one. Trying it again today we'll see what happens.

didnt want to take the chance of hurting his pads ,also he has been pretty spoiled and sleeping inside all summer and winter ,so never got his good coat on , just not worth the risk to me ,i would like to keep him around , i still went hunting ,just left him at home

NW Washington. It was 11 F on Saturday. Not sure what the wind chill brought it down to. The hunting was very good.
