duck hunting on deer opener

Postby suskiedrake » Mon Nov 28, 2005 9:31 am

Well I went duck hunting onthe deer opener before work again this year and the river was really good to me. And my taxidermist was happy as well with the results right before Christmas as well.

I went deer hunting on deer opener....should have went duck huntin.
I had my pick of three small doe, I let them pass. I did that last year, shot the doe and the closer I got the smaller it got. I was not too happy about that. If I am going to go elbow deep in a chest cavity, I might as well make it worth it.

Our plan today was to fill the tags and get back on the lake tomorrow.
All the snow melted, the creeks were high. Everybody got a "soaker"
today. Sweated my ass off. Had an old (and I mean old) guy almost die on us. Decided he was going to walk back to the house, found him face down in the mud. Never told anybody he was going anywhere. Had no idea where he was. I feel bad for the guy, he is dying of cancer and just wanted a few more hunts. I don't know, maybe the guys that brought him along should have paid better attetion to him.

12 guys one stinkin deer.

Suskie is the only smart one. I should of been hunting ducks as well. Didn't see a tail.
I'd rather be hunting than talking to you here.

Thanks brother , I havent seen a mallard for awhile so I am guessing the bands went south as well except for one of the teal that one of my buddies took the other day. I wish mine would have been but I am happy to finally get a wall worthy GWT drake plummed out....
