Harrisburg Sports Show Bans Assault Weapons

Postby Dr^ke » Thu Jan 17, 2013 4:08 pm

This year the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show has banned Assault Weapons from the show. They have turned on their fellow sportsmen and women who patronize them year after year and have cir cum to the anti's. STAND UP FOR YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS AND BOYCOTT THE SHOW.United we Stand Divided we fall. Post on the Sports Show's Facebook page and voice your opinion. Go to their website and contact them and remind them that our money writes their paycheck. Message or email exhibitors and encourage them to stand up for their rights and not to attend. Also email TV personalities and encourage them to boycott the show.

This is just not right, when people in the outdoor industry are starting to back down and are afraid to stand up for the industry I will not support them. I hope other feel the same way!

Make sure you go to the "Boycott Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show" Facebook page and like them. They have lists of vendors and celebrities that have pulled out. Here is all the contacts for the Harrisburg show so you can voice your opinion.

Special Thanks to Christie Caywood for doing some leg work for us:

The show pulled down all of their direct contact information from the website once NRA sent out their statement. However, I still had it pulled up, and Google has it cached.

It is all pasted below in the order it was published online, but the most relevant is probably: Event Director Chris O'Hara, phone - 717-368-7487, fax - 203-840-9868, email - cohara@reedexpo.com

The second more relevant is probably: Public Relations Deb Davis, phone - 717-834-6267, fax - 717-834-6207, email - ddavis@conceptoneinc.com

No need to credit or even mention me, but I thought you might find the information useful since it was public as of earlier today.

Thanks for the info. Absolutely unreal if you ask me. The funny thing is, I never saw a FAMAS, M16, full auto AK47 or AK74su at any event so weren't "assault weapons" already banned (sarcasm)

Looks like I gonna save some gas money. I always buy a call at this show, but not this year. I will buy it directly from the company before I give this show any money.

Let those call makers know if they go you won't support them but if they take a stand you will gladly buy directly form them!

Trop gun shop is out

I buy a call when I go as well, last year it was a SGC little joel. I posted up on every vendor i remembered, Goey, livinston waterfowl, SGC, etc, asking them to join the boycott.

Forget about next year. After this, they're done. I hope they take a huge loss on the venue rental due to lack of sales and the vendors realize (the ones who still attend) that it was a bad idea to go and they break even or not make a profit and not book it again for next year.

This really sucks...I look forward to this show every year as a way to get rid of cabin fever and pick up some calls, decoys, etc. My 4 year old son is obsessed with the "sports fishin' show." He's going to be so bummed when I tell him we're not going. It's really ashame for all of us sportsmen and the many great outfitters that get the majority of their business from that show. I'm highly disappointed

I dont want to stir up a bunch of ?'*! but since there is no legitimate use for assault style weapons in PA why have them at the show to begin with ? We as PA hunters are not allowed to use semi-automatic rimfire weapons to hunt anything so why do I need to go to a hunting and fishing show to see and buy a tatical rail in camo for my gun I cant hunt with anyhow. I attended the show a coup;le of years ago and was amazed at how many guides and vendors were assembled in one place. The Monroeville show never came close and is completely ridiculous when compared to the Harrisburg show. So now by boycotting the show and discouraging vendors from attending we only hurt ourselves.

Just my opinion.

So if they tried to ban all rifles, people in Ohio shouldn't have a problem, because you can't hunt with them legally? Are you serious? I have a legitimate need for one, it's my choice of weapon for home defense. Who are you to say what is adequate to defend mmy 5 kids and woman? It's also my constitutional right to possess them, to defend our state and nation. I am called to be armed by our commonwealth's constitution. When the need for materialism and consumerism is more important than defending the rights and freedoms granted to us by the constitution, we've got huge issues.

+2

In addition, I don't own what is referred to as an AR but I have semi shotguns, semi pistols, etc. This restriction won't stop with the so called AR. And, I don't shoot competitively but I love watching guys at our local range who use the AR. As American citizens, as free citizens, they have every right to own an AR, to compete, to enjoy shooting, reloading, ballistics, etc. Sometimes I can't believe what I read by so called sportsmen who think they will gain immunity from gun restrictions if the offer up the rights of another fellow sportsman.

I agree whole-heartedly with Don. A ban on AR's is just a stepping stone for them to take away my SBE II. If we let them chip away at us we'll find ourselves clinging to our last hope of enjoying a duck hunt with some crappy hammer-action single shot. Don't ever be complacent. You give an inch they'll take a mile. Just ask the Canadian people

I just checked their official website and they have nothing listed about the vendors that have left. The only sponsors they have left are comcast and progressive. A couple of the listed vendors that backed out are still on their website and they have yet to remove tom dokken, the primos guys and a couple others from their experts list. I wonder if they are dragging their feet to keep people in the dark who are may not know this is going on.

Primos and Sean Mann just dropped out. There is no waterfowl section this year. SGC, Foiles, Goey, everybody is gone.

Progressive is run by... drum roll please.... Progressives! They've always had anti gun leadership. From what I remember, they're big Obama supporters and donate big money. Don't waste time with them unless you're calling up to cancel your policy.

The show has been canceled! Way to go guys for standing up for our rights :clapping: It just shows that when we all stand together as "American Sportsman and Sportswoman" theres nothing we can't do. I heard they are looking for a new host for the Las Vegas show for next yr already. Bye,bye Reed :hi: Don't mess with our 2nd amendment :fingerpt:
