I see hybrids like this at Point State Park and around the stadiums on the Northside of Pittsburgh. I was going to post a pic from this fall but forgot.

You know it! If you have a question about waterfowl or waterfowl hunting don't ask on the internet just ask me. Most guys don't have a clue what they are talking about. Take that don taylor for example!

Ok, if it is not a hybrid mallard then what would you call it? I have never seen a mallard with white primary wing feathers? Or a head that is half green and the other half black and white?

Depends where you killed it. Common names are Marina Mallard or Park duck.
It's a junk duck kinda like these.

I sent KDS a text, asking him just what he meant. Sometimes he steeps things so deeply in sarcasm you can't tell what the guy means. He thinks it's a pure mallard with a deficiency. Something that lead it to have some white feathers. Personally, I see white, I think it has some domestic blood in it. Could he be right? Yep, sure could. Could it be a farm duck? Also a possibility. Send pics of it to Kevin Jacobs at the PGC. He's good to get back to people and probably one of the few people who could give you a more definitive answer.

Where you shot it would certainly factor in my opinion.

Thanks Don Taylor. I was kind of thinking it was a mallard with a little domestic in him but was hoping for something a little better. I will try Kevin Jacobs.

Its a mallard x farm duck (also a mallard)...

Probably the best eating duck you'll ever shoot, they have huge breasts and are very mild tasting. Roast it!
Why do I shoot 3.5" for geese? Because they don't make a 4" yet!

Just in case anyone was wondering, from a scientific standpoint, unless the farm duck that created this offspring was a muscovy, which I think it's safe to say isn't the case...it is almost certainly NOT a hybrid in the scientific sense as the vast, vast majority of farm ducks originated from mallards thus are members of the same species...I would be willing to bet this duck could have...and may have reproduced and created viable offspring...although looking at the picture I don't think he will be doing that any more....

Lots of farm species come from mallards, call ducks, bibbed mallards and what not, but they're still all farm ducks and anything that breeds with a bibbed mallard, etc, is a farm duck hybrid. At least, to me, that's what it is. If it's not from a 100% wild lineage, it doesn't count as a cross I'd want on the wall.

These are actually bibbed mallards. They're not any more of a hybrid than a call duck is. That's how they're bred to look.
