Pa duck chat hunt?

Postby Fili » Wed Aug 03, 2005 12:18 am

I'm not in this forum as much as some of you guys but everyone in here seems very nice and seems to be very ethical hunters. i thought it might be a good idea to get together sometime this fall to hunt ducks or geese together. i don't know how we could set it up.(who hosts, how many people, who calls, etc.) Just thought I'd throw the idea out there. Post up what you think.
I'd rather be hunting than talking to you here.

cool let's see how many more people are interested. I don't know where Compass and Sharon, PA are but maybe if there is a lot of interest in this we could do a few different places.

Sharon is about an hour north of pittsburgh on the ohio border. It is about 30 minutes from pymatuning.

I would be into it depending on where you guys would like to plan this.
Being on the lake up here, everything is far away. OK Sharon is an hour or so. It seems like most of you guys are in the middle to the east side of the state. Central to western PA works for me. Lets see what happends.

River hunt

Postby h2ofowler84 » Thu Aug 04, 2005 7:23 pm

Count me in too. I live right on the river about 10 minutes north of Harrisburg. I agree with snafu that if there is enough interest we could spilt the state so the guys from the western part arent driving 4 hours for a one day hunt. Let me know what you guys think.

Since this was my idea i will host the 1st hunt. I was thinking of hunting canada geese in the early september season. It will be in Lebanon county. I do not know the exact location. I will wait and see which fields the birds are coming into. The hunt will probably be during the middle of the week. We will need a caller because I am not a very good caller. I do have plenty of decoys. Let me know if there is any interest in this hunt.

I'm just south of Honey Brook so count me in. My schedule is touch and go, but if we know far enough in advance, I should be able to make it. The wife and I blew a ton of money at Cabelas this weekend. I should have known better, but oh well. My lab always needs goodies!

september hunt

Postby Fili » Tue Aug 09, 2005 12:19 am

I am setting a hunt date for monday September 19th. It will be a morning hunt, done by noon in Lebanon, PA. anyone is welcome to come but maybe we ought to limit the number of hunters to 6 or 7. I know h2ofowler84 and arkstate are interested so if anyone else is let me know. Like I said in my previous post I have plenty of decoys but we will probably need a decent caller because I am lousy. Plenty of time left but I am starting to get the fever.

Guys,
Keep in mind that the number of hunters in a waterfowl hunting party is six. It's new for this year and posted in the regs. Any of you guys are welcome to come and hunt with me sometime. Weekdays are usually the best for me to get guys out. The weekends are usually filled with family and friends. The later in the year the better for hunting geese with me.

Try to come to the Calling and Griling get together this Sunday. See the post titled "Final Calling and Grilling".
