Good Newport Hotel Suggestion Please

Postby Slack Tide » Wed Mar 16, 2011 4:59 pm

Hi guys,
Long Islander looking for a nice weekend getaway in RI with my wife after a long duck season. Any suggestions in the Newport area close to the water? I'd like a nice walking area with some cool bars and nice things to see. Also, is that place strictly seasonal like our Hamptons? Or is it a cool spot year round, looking to go in April....
Thanks guys...

Tons of good places to stay in Newport. ANywhere downtown will be great. Everything is in walking distance. Bars, shops, restaurants, it's all right in downtown. Everything is open all year there. This is a good time to go, before the real big 'flocks' of tourists move in! After Memorial day the price doubles on everything too!

Swamp-
Can you narrow it down? I know there are a lot. I don't want crazy high end, spa etc, but I don't want the no-tell Motel either.

Fantastic, I think either the Hyatt or the "Newport".
I appreciate it.

Hey Swamper, You could have told me about those bridges! Holy $HIT!!!!!
I am not thrilled with heights.. Man.. We just got back and stayed at the Marriot on America's Cup Way. We had to cut it short b/c the little one was on his first journey and ours too with him and the comforts of home called. One hell of a Rueben sandwich at some Irish place there though. Saw some BBills in the harbor

Hahahaha, come on now, they aren't that big!

Sorry you had to cut your trip short, but glad you got to make it out this way. You picked a good time to come. It will be a ZOO over there in a couple weeks!

I think the thing is that all those bridges START from an elevated ramp with a soft arch, those bridges of yours start at sea level and then climb steeply to a Camel back, then steeply down AND the entire thing is way the hell up there.
