Where are the ducks on the river?

Postby duckhunter164 » Wed Jan 05, 2011 9:30 am

I have been duck hunting off the Waccamaw and Intracoastal Waterway using my duck boat and a dozen decoys. I see probably only 5 ducks everytime I go out and can't get a shot at them and sometimes I won't see any. Where do I need to go. I am in the Socastee/Myrtle Beach area.

You need to get in your boat and ride until you find them just like we all do. And also you need to respect other hunters buy using common sense while hunting like don't set-up on top of somebody, no skybusting and if you can't call then leave the damn things at home!

When you are riding around to try to find them don't runup into every little creek and cut. hang back and look with binoculars. Running them up with the boat will just move them to another area.

speakin of stupid people who decide to duck hunt. i can tell just by lookin at some people at the landing that they have no idea what they are doing. the same ones that love to use a God forsaking q beam the whole time they are running the river and blind everyone in front of them. the same ones that hunt the little 10 foot wide creeks and ditches and decide to put out a thousand decoys and jam the river up. the same ones that pull up to spots on the river that ive never seen ANYONE hunt in my 15 years of duck huntin, and get stuck on a mud flat or sandbar for 6 hours. the same ones that when they blow a duck call, it makes other people laugh when they hear it. the same ones that put decoys out in 50 foot of water and only have 10 foot of string or the weights are not big enough and they float down the river. you guys that have been hunting your whole life like me know this, you were born and bred to hunt. some people wake up in the morning and decide they want to start duck hunting which in turn ruins it for those of use who actually know what the hell we are doing. so do us all a favor please, if you have no idea what the hell you are doing stay at home cause you will never get peoples respect by doing the stupid crap that some people do.

The macro for his site did it for me. Apparently they don't want you to be able to tell what I wrote. Do you go to Socastee HS?
