hooded mergies

Postby scdc » Sun Dec 25, 2011 9:23 pm

I've been seeing more and more large flocks of hooded mergansers over the past year and was wondering if it was just the area I've hunted over the past few years (upstate). There is a limit of only 1 hooded mergie in SC which seems outdated if they are as popular everywhere in SC (even though they might be the worst tasting duck I've had, I still eat them).

I haven't seen any in the last couple of years. But I did see and shoot several red breasted mergs last year. I have to agree Mergs taste like swamp mud.
You know your hunting in South Carolina when a bunch of ducks fly in and you shot both of them!!
