Sparkleberry Swamp Duck Run

Postby carolinagreenhead » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:14 am

Ive been trying to find information on it. All I can find is from past years. Are they having it this year? Anyone going? I've never been. Thinking about going if they have it.

I've been checking that link. It has 2011 info on it. Nothing about this year. Is it too early?

Advice - Don't act stupid and hide you cans away. Boater safety units from Lake Murray are waiting on the river when you come out of Broad Water, and drunk tank is at Packs. Boater Satey does not play.

I figured as much. I'm not a drinker anyway plus I would have my wife and kids. Is this a kid friendly event or just a bunch of drunks?

I figured as much, especially when I didn't see any kids in any of the youtube videos.

Carolina, There are really two "sides" to the duck run. The side you see the most is the party side, mostly in video's online, drunk scantly clad people. I went last year and saw plenty of boats with wives and children in them. You just need to make sure you stay with a like group of people. Don't let alot of drunk people keep you from enjoying a great event....you can enjoy the run and stay clear of all of the partying.

Its only one event, so there aren't actually two sides but there sort of are when it comes to types of people making the run. On one side you have the family boats (wife/kids, not alot of drinking and partying) just enjoying nature and the other side being the party boats (hot drunk chicks, loud music, alot of drinking).

Just trying to encourage you to attend b/c not every boat out there is filled with loud, drunk party people. If thats your thing, then you will definitely find it but if its not, you can stay clear of it and still have a great time.

The actual duck run is Saturday but there is usually something going on Friday night at Packs and then Sunday, load everything up and come home. Last year we made the trip there and back on Saturday and it made for a rough day. the run starts at 8am, so we had to leave the house at 5:15 and we didn't get home until 8:30 or 9.

I still don't know if I'm going or not. Not sure the wife is too interested. All she sees from the videos are a bunch of drunk half naked chicks. Not that I mind of course but not sure I can talk her into it.
