Early Teal Shooting Hours ***

Postby SkyPeeler » Sat Sep 15, 2012 8:08 am

Why the hell Is the legal shooting time for early teal season not
1/2 hour before sunrise like all other migratory bird seasons? It was
Stupid how many Teal we had to let fly by and light on us this morning,
Then when LST comes we get to shoot at 3 different birds and kill 2.
Seriously could have limited by 6:45. Stupid!

I agree it was awesome to watch but still, every other
Waterfowl or dove season is 1/2 hr before but not early teal
It makes no sense at all. SC has some messed up laws.

It is because somebody does not think SC duck hunters are smart enough to tell teal from woodies- which is a pretty valid assumption for many hunters everywhere.

North Carolina allows their hunters to shoot at regular starting time, guess they are better at duck identification than SC hunters. Of course they can only hunt teal East of Highway 17 in NC and all their rubberheads live West of 17 (or so it seems if you read their forum).

Just saying.

Well I hunt GA too and ours are at regular hours. I guess your right there must be a bunch of idiot hunters and the DNR are among them! I guess this time I'll shoot early and if I'm asked why I was shooting I'll tell them I was shooting at some dove birds.
