Touché !!! I'm counting down the hours until next Wednesday when we pull out!!!

Along with some NE North Platte River mallards dec 12-16 ...and the possible OK, KS wild card ...it's gonna be a delicious season, regardless of what the strap looks like at day's end!!!

Opted out of the draw but to keep my preference points this year. With a few months of work related training, I was worried I wouldn't be able to make the date if drawn. Should be a sure thing for Santee Delta Coastal next year as long as nothing changes.

Santee Coastal 11/23....yall ever hunted out there? Do they have blinds set up? Hunted Santee Delta before and they just put you out on the side of the dike with a little sneak boat and point you in the right direction...What should I bring/expect?

Yea...spoke to him today.. 25 shell limit in there and he was told to ignore the teal and woodies at first light.. to lookfor nice longsprigs on the maturepintails and wait for the greenheads...we went to delta west 3 years ago and another buddy had a limit and 14 shells left 15 minutes after legal light but didnt wait and ended up with a handful.of teal and woodies with a shoveler to boot..i got my bull can a sweet wigeon that same hunt

Hunted santee coastal- the cape past Saturday shot mostly teal one shoveler...could've limited out if I was a better shot lol. Not a lot of big ducks around only saw one group of pintails flying pretty high. Also saw some widgon, gadwall, and mallards. Basically same operation as santee delta in that the drive you out on the dike but these fields had blinds with reflective markers to help you get in the right place. BTW they take the 25 shell limit seriously, they wouldn't let this one guy hunt cause he brought extra shells. Overall great experience cant wait till next time!

Went to Samworth this past Tues 14th. Three groups - 6 total. Hunted south Middleton. One group had a gadwall and woodies - shot at lot of teal. Another group 11 teal - dive bombed them all morning and us - had woodies and hundreds of mallards. Killed 1 black - 3 mallards - two woodrows. Never go there without a dog! Don't ask me how I know. :fingerpt: Our shooting was not our best. Some of the guys ran out of shells. Same DNR guys there do all the coastal hunts - great guys and very helpful. Go where they say and do what they tell you and it will work. They told us where they saw the birds scouting and to set up there also to quickly move if needed to where the bird are.

It was a great hunt. Birds around all morning and flocks of mallards that will work! A 15 min cruse down the river - a 1/4m hike on a dike - a short paddle - another 1/4 mile wade. Beautiful area with impoundments all around. The ducks were there! I shot 17 shells and passed on a bunch of woodies over some thick cane grass in fear of loosing them. Bring bug dope and face mask! Light rain the whole morning. We had one camo sheet - used it to cover paddle boat. Would have been nice to had a 4' section or two of the blind grass sheets. Hard to hide - not a lot of cover - had to get up on a cypress in the grass and then it hindered your shots. They give you a marsh stool and a sled to float you gear in. I would go there again.
