Heading out to SD for 3rd year in a row for Pheasant hunting, first week of November. This year my cohorts and I pulled waterfowl permits. We are planning on pheasant hunting around the Gettysburg area; and noticed heavy concentrations of waterfowl driving through Webster area last year. Don't have the option to travel back and forth between, anyone familiar with the waterfowl around midstate? Looking for any tips, or information you can share. Not looking for your honey hole, just a lead.
Thanks,

You should have recieved a Hunting Atlas if not they can be ordered online, or where you get your pheasant lic.. There are numerous public areas listed. Permission can be obtained from land owners much easier for waterfowl because it seems land owners realize ducks are here today and gone tommorrow. Curious...are you hunting private in Gettysburg for pheasant or public? I am from PA and had a ball last year with the waterfowl..going back this year Nov.4-14.

Actually going to be out there 7-12. Hunting a combination of private and public lands for both. Last year we did a majority of public for pheasant and had an absolute blast. I have the hunting atlas, but wanted to see what others had to say. You can always look at a map, but it ultimately comes down to where the birds want to be.

If anybody can look at a map then I guess you better start looking. Your right the birds will be where they want to be and the only way to find them is to scout and not online! But you really need to break out the binocs and actually follow the ducks to their preferred feeding area and then obtain permission. There is probably some WPA's nearby and a good place to start.
