Last year was my first year duck hunting so still a newb at this, but is there a huge increase in coot numbers? I saw easily a thousand coots on a small lake. Also I am hunting west river near rapid city

Its just that time of year for them to migrate. They should be steady for another couple of weeks, unless it gets really cold and they'll leave in a hurry.

In all my years hunting I have never seen a coot flying higher than 14" off the water. Can't imagine a bunch of high flying coots :lol3:

Rapid City area? Not out at Ellsworth are ya? There are a couple of us from the the base, Im retired USAF, that duck and upland if you're looking for company.

Ahhh Ellsworth... give my left arm to go back there if they'd let me fly with one arm. Is philly teds still open there?

Yeah I am out of Ellsworth and always looking for more people to hunt with. Philly Ted's is indeed still open and better than ever

Love that place. I didnt do a whole lot of waterfowl hunting while I was there :no: but did a tremendous amount of Turkey hunting (black hills) and pheasant hunting out towards Wall. Wish I were able to come back but just isn't going to happen until I retire.

Im all about joining people for hunting. The ducks are definitely flying I saw a lot of new birds this morning. Still not seeing any geese which what I really want to get into this year since I have not bagged one yet
