Driving from Tennessee

Postby TNSetter » Fri Nov 02, 2012 2:14 pm

Some friends and I, during our high school fall break, drove to the Armour area to hunt pheasants (we've heard ditch coots, ditch chickens... all really funny) and had a great weekend with willing farmers and townsfolk providing access and information. Having duck hunted along the TN river, flooded rice fields in AR, and corn in TN/MS, we were inspired by the number of ponds, sloughs, and ditches that held large numbers of ducks. Planning a trip next year to hunt pheasants AND ducks. Looking for best advise on waterfowl patterns (cut fields/water) and timing for that area of SD (east of the MO river). We saw large numbers of geese, but all high fliers. That early were we seeing local ducks with nothing migrating down yet? Thanks for any help. Go VOLS!

Checkout the flooded timber in arkansas... Coolest thing you'll ever experience... YouTube "arkansas green timber". Should give you an idea... Basically flooded bottomland hardwoods... Mallards drop down in your face!
