WARNING west Tn. hunters:

Postby Itchy Coyote » Wed Nov 17, 2010 11:21 am

Some of you may not know but west Tn. Now has ALLIGAOTRS. I have been hunting a spot not more than 20 mins from Memphis for years and knew that there was a gator it has been there for years. This one I have seen it’s was around 7 feet long with about 2 feet missing from his tail. But now they have been seen around the rivers in Memphis.

I saw it one night on the news and the TWRA dose not kill the ones they catch. Yes they let them go and the one spot I thought they let them go in was Shelby Forest. If so it is a great spot to duck hunt if you get there first but now you have to fight with the thought of letting your hunting dog go after a duck with gators in the water.

So now in west Tn. As the duck you kill hit the water the race will be on, will your dog or the gator get your duck first?

I worked on the river for awhile and we made coal runs to the TVA power plant just South of Memphis. The regular guys who worked that run all the time claimed to see a gator in the "pond" that we pulled into to swap out the coal barges. It was March?April when I was there and I didnt' see anything.

I'll be hunting down buy you guys Monday thru Wednesday and have been thinking about doing a FL gator hunt next year. I might just be able to kill two birds with one stone on this trip (or a bird and a gator to be more specific!) :grooving:

I just got back from Reelfoot. Despite the slow hunting and piss poor guides, we shot some ducks and had a good time.
