How did your season start out?

Postby TnGreenhead » Sat Sep 02, 2006 4:29 pm

Well are season started out pretty bad on the opener we stopped to get gas and noticed we blew out 2 dozen GHG fullbodys. Found them and only had 1 base broke. Saw about 50 fly by, didnt give us a look. Saturday alittle better got 5 by 11am, and 250+ skeeters. 1st day on Cherokee Lake, 2nd on holston River. What does tomorrow hold?

Went to try the early wood ducks the last two days. Saturday: backed the boat in the water to run to one of the blinds we had scouted two days prior, and the battery was shot. So, we weren't going anywhere. Ended up hunting a walk-in blind - saw four, but none ever got close enough. Sunday: same deal. Backed the boat down in the water - with hot battery - still nothing. Pretty sure the engine is stuck in gear and we can't get it out. Need to get it serviced before real season.

So, not a really good weekend for the woodies. Oh well, 75 days til the real deal!

Well early season is over, I did manage to get 8 woodies didnt make it out last day. As geese goes ended up with 17 and 1 band all but 3 off Cherokee Lake. Hopefully late season is better.

Wood duck on reelfoot was better than the last couple of years due to the amount of duck weed forming back on the lake. Last years season wasn't bad at all. Just depends on if the weather will push eonugh of them out of Missouri.

We did pretty good. We got 25 geese & 14 woodies for the early season.
Also 3 of the geese were banded.

We did decent opening day. Only seen a couple groups of mallards, but we killed out on woodies (8 ducks) so over all it wasnt an terrible hunt

We bagged 13 Saturday morning, and 6 on Sunday. Word is that we were one of the better blinds on the whole lake.
