There's a few areas out here for public hunting. Mainly out in Meeman Shelby Forest Park which is where I've been been hunting mainly for the past two years. Eagle Lake is good, but most of the time you'll have to be there real early if you want a good spot. There's three sloughs you can walk too out in the actual park near Poplar Tree Lake. But this year theyve decided to build blinds and draw for spots, so your kind of limited to where you can hunt now. Wolf River in Fayette County has some decent hunting i've heard about but have yet to try it. Overall i'd say public hunting in this area is about a 5 or 6 out of ten. Your best deal for great hunting is watch craigslist and find a lease just across the bridge in arkansas , or even in North mississippi. Good luck

If you are that close, you may as well drive 80 miles and hunt somewhere in Arkansas.

80? You don't even have to go that far. Horseshoe Lake is less than 80
