I'm goin to try it for the first time this year. I have a lot of turkeys on my land but have never been interested in huntin them until I missed one with my bow this year in the fall. Good luck to all who go, i'm sure yall have one scouted and will have the trigger finger ready.

THE OTHER LOVE OF MY LIFE! I have been scouting just about every day on different property locating new roost areas. I to like to hunt turkeys with my bow. I have taken 3 longbeards with my bow in the spring & 3 in the fall. I will be hunting opening morning with my bow. I usually get about 6 or 7 turkeys a year counting the spring & fall season. GOOD HUNTING YAH.

Turkey hunting isn't my expertise. I've only been a few times before, but this year I'm gonna get after em pretty hard. I've been scouting and have located quite a few on some of my land. Now I'll just see if I can get in the right spot. Good luck to everybody else. :salude:

That wind was real bad yesterday. We got set up on a gobbler but he was covered up with hens. Called his hens into about 10 yrds. The gobbler stayed up on the hill & never came in. We could see him strutting. Did a lot better today. Went back to the same place & called in one of three gobblers. Took'em @ 35 yrds. 22lbs. 10" beard & 3/4" spurs. Then we moved to the other side of the farm & got on a nother gobbler for my hunting buddy. From the time I shot & the time he shot it was about 30 min. Them turkeys were hot today. To bad he missed. Hope you get one frazier. good luck.

We got screwed again today. We were set up with birds on the roost like 75yds. away. They were going to fly down perfect and join our decoys. They were on the other side of the fence but were going to fly to our property. Then Hunter Dan has to come by on his 4-wheeler running late and scares them the oppostie direction. Later in the morning I woke up to see a tom about 15 yds. away in our decoys running away. Apparently when I woke up I did something that he saw and didn't like. Finally around noon I called three birds into the thicket below us. They just wouldn't come on up to us. So I went below them and dad went above them to push a drive towards me. So I'm down below and I hear the commotion of them flying then they come out of the woods about 30 yds. away.
I dropped this bad boy with one shot from my Beretta 20ga.

I got my second bird this morning. It had two beards. Hunted for 4 hrs. this morning. Killed him @ 10:10am. The shot was @ 20yds. He had 5 hens that came in with him. I hunt with a scope on my shotgun & it had come loose the other day when I was out hunting. Caused me to miss a bird @ 35yds. after I got out of the woods I seen it was loose. I tightened it back up & shot it to make sure it was hitting right. I guess this morning proved that it was. Bird never moved after the shot. 4 for 5 now.

Congrats on the bird, sounds pretty nice. No luck for me. I called one in yesterday morning to about 80 yards, and he just wouldn't commit after that.

Did you have any decoys out? Did he have hens? If you had decoys out how far out did you have them? When I put out my decoys I put them out about 8 to 10 yrds out. I just got used to putting them out so close because of bowhunting for them. That way if they hang up thirty yrds from your decoys they will only be 38 to 40 yrds out. If he has hens dont try to call to the gobbler call to the hens. If you can get the hens to come in past you they will bring the gobbler in behind them. To call the hens in listen for the loudest hen & try to match what she does note for note. It will drive her crazy. Also turkeys usually will not go under afence or cross a creek when you call to them. Try if you can to get around these land marks. These are just some of the things I do if a bird has already hung up on me before. Hope you could use some of it. Don't give up.

was on some birds on sat. morning. at flydown a gobbler and 3 hens flew down about 30 yards from us. I would've shot, but they were walking directly away from us and I was facing the wrong direction :help: With all those hens looking around, I was afraid I would get busted. O well, I'm fixin to go right now and see if I can put me one to bed!

I have hunted for turkeys & deer @ AEDC for about 5 years know. Thanks for the info. though. Did not get to go out this morning because I was sick all day & night last night. When I got up this morning I saw that I wished I had gone out this morning. It was sunny & clear. Boy was it cold.
