Just wondering if anyone agrees with me on this.... The food planted this year is very scimpy! I've been and looked at the food in most of these potholes on the lake and they look TERRIBLE! I've heard they didnt have the funding to plant that much this year? What are the Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl organizations good for? Isn't this the reason these organizations are there? Where is all of are license money going to? Also they are already flooding the holes BEFORE our deadline to drive in to work on our blinds locking the gates before the deadline. Do these people even know anything about duck hunting?? Who do we contact to go above Dan's Head? My personal opinion is that the refuge should be pumped a month before all the other holes are pumped to hold the ducks that go right by us as well....like the 2nd week of October would be perfect. Then a month or so later pump the other food holes. Why do we the hunters not have any say so on any of these issues? WE PAY THEIR SALARY!!

I've been hunting at Old Hickory since 1977. I have not been to all of the ponds BUT McMillian (25,26,27,28&29) have the best food in years. Brown (17,18,&19) are Ok too. Have not seen blind 12 but 14 is fair as usual. TWRA DID cut planting by 30% BUT I don't think it hurt much as they made the cut in the shallower water. Those areas are now chock full of natural food. Blinds 64 and 65 were not planted because of a dispute with the farmer that normally plants these holes for them He refused to let TWRA access the holes through his farm. I know him and he can be very unreasonable and hardheaded. TWRA has wisely decided to convert these holes to wet soils management with all natural food. Dan's boss is Russ.Skoglund@state.tn.us. If you can get any action, it'll be better than others have done even with a petition with dozens of signatures. Unfortunately, there is a limited TWRA budget. The waterfowl budget is mainly spent in West Tennessee which is closer to and on the Mississippi Flyway. TWRA believes that it's limited budget is best spent where it will do the most good and that has been identified as the west state. Change will have to be forced through the TWRA Commission and talking to many of them is like talking to a stump! The waterfowlers friends on the Commission are Boyce Magli (long time waterfowler) and Mike Hays (Bluebank Resort Owner on Reelfoot Lake). GOOD LUCK

Mac Bottoms food is nothing compared to the corn they had last year. I think the simple answer to all this is to have the drawing in June and allow the card holders to pay for the food they want if they want more than the twra is willing to give . Just my opinion.

Each to his own opinion BUT I hunted MANY days in Mc last year and there was less food than this year. The corn stalks were nice BUT the amount of available grain can not compete with the milo this year. Ducks don't eat corn stalks. They eat ears of corn! There is plenty of food in Mc.
