Henry Horton State Park Shooting Complex

Postby mox » Mon Apr 27, 2009 6:01 pm

We'll classify this as an "advice thread."

I'm looking at getting a dozen or so buddies together for my bachelor weekend. I came across Henry Horton S.P. when I did a search for places with lodging and shooting complexes. They rent guns and sell ammo there.
Anyone:
- shot there before?
- stayed there and played golf?
- eaten at the lodge/cabin?
- camped?
- pulled over for a bathroom break?
- know anyone who can get a group deal worked out? (i've got a couple contact names, but if you know anyone that can help me
please let me know)

I'm just looking for general opinions of this place. Real interested in the shooting complex information.

Thanks y'all!

We went there and looked around one weekend just to see how it was. If I remember right it was a nice place. If I'm not mistaken they have 3-D archery as well.

When we visited we stopped by there. Looked nice to me. Then again, that's probably been every bit of 5 years or more ago. Things can go downhill in 5 years. Anywho, sounds like you got a heck of a party planned. G'luck with the wedding and all.

Well I doubt we party hard, but it'll be nice to get some college buddies back together. What better way to do it than several skeet fields and a couple trap ranges?

I appreciate the kind words. I think she's about got the wedding planned out and ready to go. The only thing I've had a part in is registering for gifts. She registered at Macy's and Target and I was turned loose on Sears... now tell me why the Macy's and Target gifts are almost all bought up but the Sears registry hasn't been touched!? I know we'll use that chain saw and those loading ramps a lot more than those fruity vases and soap dishes!

The golf course looks nice, at least the deer really seem to like it.

There's also kayak and canoe rentals nearby.

Folks I talked to said the food was good but I didn't ask about the accommodations.

Been to a shoot or two there, nice folks, and ok fields. Call ahead to make sure they are actually open.

Friends brother-n-law is the head ranger there, but doubt that will count for much.

Because I just bought a shotgun she doesn't know about and I'd still like to marry her in August. Besides, I'm very familiar with the $registers$ at Bass Pro.

Eh, things happen. If she really loves you, she'll overlook the little things... like a shotgun... :lol3:

I've shot skeet there several times, it's pretty nice i think they have like 10 different ranges and it's $5 a round i think. I've camped there as well twice and we just set up in a big field somewhere. Never stayed at the lodge or played golf there though.
Any day that starts with a cold boat ride is a good one

I shot the state skeep comp. there last year. Nice place. Not as nice as the place in nashville. But for the price. You can't beat it! :hammer:
