Shot a few drake shovelers in central texas this weekend. Both were large bodied birds. They both also had grayish coloring on the heads. Is this due to immaturity or to plumage?
We shot one this weekend, and it was all green. Perhaps it is still in eclipse. We noted that several of our drake Redheads looked like the were still in eclipse.
