In need of a taxidermist

Postby TX_Ducks71 » Wed Jul 10, 2013 6:43 pm

Ive got a Goldeneye and a Mallard in the freezer that I shot last season. Anybody know where I can get a quality mount for around 200-210 dollars near Beaumont? Thanks!

Your not gonna get real good quality for that. My guy charges $265 and he is great. Best duck I've ever seen and if something down the road happens to the mount he can fix them as well.
He is in liberty. If you're interested. He has 7 woodies and a king can of mine right now. Can't wait to get them back!!!!

Curious to what kind of mount you're going to do with 7 woodies. All individual to put in random places or are they all going to be together?

They are all going on the same piece of wood. It a piece of driftwood we found down in matagorda bay. It about 7-8 tall tree that looks good. They are all going to be different poses. There are 5 good drakes and 2 hens. I can't wait to have it done. I'll post pics next year when it's done. My taxidermist is way backed up!!!!

I can't wait to get them back. We shoot a lot of wood ducks and these were all taken by me and my buddy's. I shot an amazing hen, my first wood duck, and a drake the next year, then the rest were all shot on different hunts over last year with my buddy's. they each shot a couple and we picked the best ones to go on my mount. So it's a combination of great memories and great duck hunting with good friends. That's why I have mounts done, remembering the great times and special hunts.

Wood wide enough to bore a hole in it to fit a duck?

I was thinking of doing that but decided against it. I like the way a full mount looks but I don't know what I'll end up with. I picked 6 mounts and told my taxidermist to pick the last 1. So you never know!!!!!!
