Duck Hunting Info - North Texas

Postby takemnbakem » Sat Jan 08, 2005 10:32 am

I'm in the process of having to relocate to North Texas. I would appreciate some recommendations on where to hunt ducks around the Dallas Fort Worth area. I have a boat and I'm looking for access to public hunting areas. Any information you might have would be appreciate. Sure will miss my duck marsh up here in Wisconsin but at least I will be able to ride my Harley more often.
There's room on earth for all of God's creatures......right next to the mashed potatoes.

I grew up in the D/FW area but have not hunted there in the last 15 years, used to be fair duck hunting on Eagle Mountain lake on some of the small islands.

Well I am new to this board and late joining it seeing how Duck season has ended, but myself and some friends found a great lease near Henrieta TX, it is south of Wichita Falls off of 287. The area was loaded with ducks. We had a great seson up there. I never really herd much shooting from other hunters so I do not think there were many out there. I know there are a lot of Deer hunters, we were sharing the place with Deer hunters. I would start looking up in that area. For 450 acres and three ponds, one was 50 acres the others were about 1 to 2 acres, we paid 400 a piece. It is about a hour and thirty minute drive from Dallas.

I have no idea if we will be able to get on it next year, due to the deer hunters complaining about us making too much noise. We were killing mostly Gadwalls, Mallards, and teal.

There's a good bit of public hunting, you just have to get out & scout.

Stanfield Best Guides?

Postby CuzTheyFly » Mon Mar 07, 2005 2:56 am

I heard the best guides were at Webfoot Connections with Karl or the Ranger Creek Ranch bunch in Seymour... Do you work for Stanfield?
They sure do shoot alot of Geese, many many honkers..
It would be cool if we have a North Texas Goose Guide Calling Contest, but then it might break into an old fashion bare nuckle match..lol..
