Got a buddy who lives in Odessa, sent me a picture of some geese just walking along the road.

POC works for me...in that part of the world a conservation goose hunt may also be in order if the timing is right.

It's only money, and ya can't take it all to the grave! Hunt in the AM, fish in the PM, and eat the rest of the time...we'll send the cooks photos, and help with the dishes after we sober up the next day.

Well I assume that we are talking saltwater fishing... So it would have to be on the coast.

Is anyone interested in getting together for a Conservation Goose Hunt?

It's only money...you can't take it with you, and I don't plan on leaving any for soncho to spend after I'm gone!

I've had good luck with Castaway Lodge in Seadrift...I'd have to call for current pricing, and availability.

There are many others out there, but I haven't personally used them...I'm willing to give anyone a shot.

I know two different outfitters I would give money to for something like that but i'm down for whoever if someone has a go to outfitter. I think we should start a sign up list to see if we can sign a group up. I'll start, maybe just add your name if you are down. to clarify we are talking conservation season only right?

you can copy and paste your name above to the list Statton and invite any more interested in the hunt. I know a guy killing 30-70 geese a day(weekends) right now, don't know how long that will last though.

Tako...does the guy you know do Conservation hunts? Does he operate out of a lodge, or would we need to book a motel room? Where is he located?

In sure something needs to be booked soon...

just talked to the owner. Second weekend is the first availability as he will be guiding in Arkansas the first week.He said he would also keep us informed as to how it was looking up to the hunt time.

Do you want to be the spokesperson for us? Ya kinda already are. :)

If there's a minimum number of hunters, and not enough DHC guys want to go I can fill the list up pretty fast. Where do I send my money?

we have the advantage right now that it is open. I don't mind helping to plan it. I don't want to give the impression that anything is guaranteed . But if you are goose hunter or have chased snows you already know that. it's not cheap(300), but it should be good. It's an option, if someone else has other suggestions I'm open as well. if you want to add your buddies I'm down with that also. The owner will be guiding Arkansas that first week and will call the hunt off if it doesn't look good. I thought that was generous. They are no newbies, they have been in business since 88. let me know either way, I'm always psyched for the geese. I'll be going to Louisiana soon , but if we end up going with this outfitter y'all can always send me the money. I've organized another hunt with some folks here and they can confirm that I can be trusted. Anyway, open to anything y'all have to say about the trip, I'm going either way.

They have a kitchen in the lodge also and I was going to see if I could roast a pig there for all of us , after all this started off as a gumbo competition, but I understand if y'all are scared, ha!(just kidding).

Duck Gumbo Recipe

PM me your address, and I'll send you some money. Would Saturday February 8th be the date?

I'm not sure if we should post this under a different topic to get more folks involved or not. Any hunter should know that there aren't any guarantees with geese, ducks, dove, deer, or the ladies. Lol

We need the gumbo guys involved, but if they're afraid to show up smoked pork will be great.
