What do y'all do during the split?

Postby tako1972 » Sun Dec 08, 2013 7:39 pm

Anyone chase deer? I'm thinking about setting up for some venison. Gotta fix the boat, keep the dog moving, maybe geese. Scout ,scout, scout.

When times are tough and flocks are small, just take your time and kill them all.

Shot a big 8 point buck, small 4x4 elk, a couple pigs, and caught a few small trout. Next week I'll be brushing some blinds & scouting.

Only with the bow Tako, working on my ninjafart sneaky skills trying to spot and stalk axis recently in free time.... Go hard or go home. Anyone with any skill can kill with a rifle inside 100yds. Besides I am meat hunting this year.

It was a fun hunt! I bought preference points in Colorado so I could draw a Bull tag next year for the first rifle season, and decided to get sample of what it will be like.

After this hunt I won't be going to Colorado...I couldn't imagine packing this thing down a freakin mountain. I'd die!

It was on a ranch near Caldwell...I don't believe it has a name. I was hunting on Texas Hidden Valley Ranch, and it was Mr. Supak's brother that had the Elk. It was hands down the best hunt I've ever been on. Great place to go, and by far the nicest people I ever met.

I prepare it just like beef...ribeye, new your strip, hamburger etc...it's best served medium rare or rare.

Correct, we were recently told by the doctor to not wake a sleeping baby so sometimes it's 2-3 hours and other times get lucky and it's 4-5 hours. Lucky for me I just get up to change him and can go back to bed when I hand him off to her to be fed.

HAHA, love it. We live and die by our schedule. It is the only way we sleep throughout the night. Not to 1 up you, but it is what we did with Drake and our twin boys (4 months old). Babies are down by 9:30 with a "dream feed", dad is out by 9:31.

I'm going to sleep in a bit and recharge the batteries, clean a couple of shotguns, wash some hunting clothes, reload some shells and maybe shoot some sporting clays.
