I was born and raised in Utah County.
Actually, I am just joking. I don't think there are too many places in the country that are better for raising a family then Utah. I am married and have two children-10yr old boy and a 2yr old girl. My father and I both played football at BYU. My father was an All-American wideout from 65-67. He then played 4yrs with the Detroit Lions and 4yrs with the NY Giants. I was an HM All-WAC wideout from 86-90. I was drafted by a WFL team, but did not pass my physical because of a herniated disc in my back. I have had 6 knee surgeries, 2 back surgeries, 2 hand surgeries, 1 hernia surgery and a few other's!
I have a commercial pilot's license and I am working on building my flight hours until I have enough to apply with some of the big carriers. I love flying! There is nothing better than being up 15K feet above the ground.
I started hunting with my dad when I was just a youngster. He was a big upland hunter, but I really wanted to waterfowl hunt, so he bought some decoys and I have never looked back. I mainly field goose hunt and like nothing better than pulling a trailer full of decoys into a cut cornfield. Most of the duck hunting that I do is jump shooting in the Uintah Basin. I have been hunting out there for almost 25 years and love the area. It used to be one of the best kept secrets in the state in my opinion, but it has really gone down hill the past 5 years. The drought and big numbers of hunters have really hurt the area. I do most of my goose hunting in Idaho. I am on the field staff for Hammerdown goose calls and would like to start comp calling if I can get a good routine down.
So, there is my life in a nut shell! I would like to get together with other members and do some hunting if anyone is interested.
Bret, thank you for a great hunt! If anyone wants to learn how to duck call from a guy who definitely knows what he is doing, get in touch with Bret. You should hear this guy work a flock of ducks! It's INCREDIBLE!
He is also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
