Surf Scoter!

Postby pescarconganas » Thu Oct 17, 2013 7:06 pm

Killed in southern Utah!

Honestly, when it dropped in I thought it was a ruddy- then realized it was a little big, and after it was down, the orange legs.

I was pumped!

I saw two of them shot on Farmington Bay on Monday. There must be a few migrating through.

It's pretty cool finding a seabird in the desert. Too bad there wasn't a drake with it!

*** last year someone else in Utah got a surf scoter too? Anyone remember this post? Is this a repost or a change in flight patterns? :lol3:

They've had it with all the loonies on the West Coast of WA, OR, and CA. Can you blame them for moving East? :hammer:

I shot one on Unit 2 at the BRBR yesterday out of my layout. There must be quite a few around. They decoy beautifully to can decoys.

Very cool gents. I haven't killed one in Utah in about 20 years but every so often some show up. Good job
