3 first's and 50%

Postby Factor 8 » Thu Nov 21, 2013 9:21 pm

My cousin wanted to go goose hunting. He tried hunting geese 20 yrs ago and quit because he never shot one. Well I got him out today and helped him get his first goose. Then my son shot his first goose w/ a band. Then my cousin lucked out and scored his first goose band as well. 6 geese, 3 bands. Seems the odds are pretty good for local geese. My young son has been smiling all day. He was on cloud nine with a grin ear to ear when he was showing his banded bird to his mom. Man! It's so sweet to see your kids enjoy water fowling!!

Boy sure wish I had a cousin like that. Been hunting for over 10 years now and still haven't bagged a goose, let alone a banded one. Oh well I'll keep trying. One day luck will smile on this old boy.

Oh and nice bag and bands.

That is sweet. Im also a lucky one. My first goose was a banded goose. Before I got it I thought id never get one then when it hits the ground its the best feeling in the world. CONGRATS to all three of you on a great hunt. Where were your bands from?

all local banded birds. howard slough, corinne and benson. Funny thing is my son came home from school and brought his friends home to have them check out his goose and his band. It was pretty funny. A handful of 5th graders all taking turns holding the goose. Hanging it for a few days then i think ill prep it for Thanksgiving. got that new cook book; Duck, Duck, Goose. going to give a new recipe a try.

it sure is nice to see some good color showing up on these birds! landed a pinny with a really nice sprig. So its in the freezer, ill continue switching out with the longest pin feathers til the end of the season. Longest pin wins, then it heads for the wall
