Where do the Divers Go After Freeze Up?

Postby Chet » Wed Dec 11, 2013 12:53 pm

Hi All,

Just curious where the cans and bluebills go after the fresh water impoundments on the BRBR and FB freeze? Do they migrate altogether, or do some move out to salt water on the lake?

Best,

Chet

In my experience they spread out all around: onto the lake, onto warm springs, and into open spots on rivers.

Probably a little of both. I remember my pops shooting a can and a few ring necks hunting on the ice before I was able to hunt.

I imagine they will be where the food is. If there is food in the GSL, then they will be there. If there is not, well they are going to find a place where the food is.
