Snow Goose update from Bill Crenshaw

Waterfowl Hunters,

Below is a news release being sent out today concerning the upcoming 2010 Spring Snow Goose Conservation Order. Please note several changes for this year:

1. The dates for 2010 will be from March 11 through April 23.

2. Special Measures allowed for the 2010 Spring Snow Goose Conservation Order include the use of unplugged shotguns, electronic calls and shooting until ½ hour after sunset. These special measures are not allowed during the regular waterfowl seasons.

As was the case last year, participating hunters will need to register and obtain a special permit. The registration site should be up and running sometime today.

All registered hunters will be required to complete a short survey at the end of the Conservation Order whether they hunted or not. This is because participating states have to conduct their own surveys to determine hunter activity and harvest.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me by email or phone.

Thanks,

Bill

I was planning to hunt snows around Kansas City, Missouri today (3/6) but my buddy there told me to hold off. They just barely arrived.

I live around St. Johnsbury VT and have not seen any geese yet...just a few ducks.
