How did everyone do? We ended up with a total of 4 shots with nothing to show... we couldn't get the boat close enough to shore so they kept flaring... Instead of going out for last light we decided to stay in stay warm and watch college football Go Notre Dame and West Virginia!

1 black and one mallard in the AM. Somebody beat us to our spot, from the sounds of it they had an awesome hunt. Tons of birds flying, should have had a few more. Also got two canadians this evening, flew right into my duck decoys, no goose decoys or calling also had a mojo out surprised they came in

We had 4 guys in the blind today on Goose and scratched out 24 birds. Mixed bag of Woodies, Widgeon, Gadwall, Blacks, Mallards, Teal and Ring Necks... Back at it in the AM.

Good luck,

I put some miles on scouting with my gun. Saw a few geese and some woodies but with limited ability to retrieve a downed duck (puppy is not finished training) and limited ability to call (my first year duck hunting) I passed on the opportunity to fire a shot. On the bright side I was able to secure permission to hunt some great spots!

We pounded them three days straight... both Saturday and Sunday we were done in the first 15 minutes of shooting... Headed up to the NEK on Monday afternoon and pounded them up there too.

Best opening week for me by far.

everyone I know up north on the lake is saying they have been pounding birds and that this is one of the best opening seasons they have seen in a while! I have not hunted the lake yet and cannot wait for it to open again! I'm headed out this morning to hunt geese and ducks in the corn fields, let you know how things turn out!

Congrats to everyone who is scoring birds!

Those that aren't mix it up and keep trying to make it happen!

Magog nice woodie!

Hopefully this weekend there will be some divers around... I'm contemplating setting up for them somewhere up north, as i have heard of a few big rafts of bluebills around.

That woody was banded in 2010, it was hatched in 2009 or earlier. It was banded on Lake Huron, about 40 miles east of Detroit Michigan. Most bands that I've gotten are young of the year that were banded within 50 miles of where I shot them, its amazing to think of that Woody buzzing around the northeast for several years.

We shot a banded black duck last week banded in tallion, QC almost 400 miles away in 2009.

same for me as most of the banded birds i have shot were banded within 20 miles of where i shot them

The oldest goose band that I got was in 2010 and it was banded in 89 by Bill Crenshaw, in Panten ,too young to fly, that was one old goose! All my duck bands(total of 3) are from Canada and all are about 3-5 years old when I collected them!
