So, I came across something quite unusual this weekend hunting. I hunt out of a kayak, and when I got to my spot and settled, I hear splashing off to my left. There was only one car in the parking lot when I left so I knew no one was around me, and after about an hour and a half after shoot time, the continual splashing peaked my curiousity and I paddled over. I found a hen Mallard stuck in a foot hold trap I assume was set for a muskrat. After freeing her I held on to her for bit when the irony of the situation hit me and I started laughing, there I sat in full camo, in a camo kayak with my camo shot gun holding a live duck in relatively good shape. Her foot wasn't in to bad a shape but she seemed exhausted as she didn't fight me at all. So, I put her in the bottom of the kayak to rest up a bit. After about an hour I put her in the water and she swam away from the kayak, and then took off.
How she got her foot stuck in the trap is beyond me, what are the odds of that?
