In the last 10 years or so I've gotten 22 bands in Vermont (its the only place I hunt). Gotten mostly mallards, w/ a couple blacks, GWT, and 1 sprig drake. All but one were banded in VT or Quebec, within 20 miles of where I shot 'em. The one exception was an adult drake mallard, banded in Illinois 2 years previous. Most birds were young of the year.
The closer you hunt to the state and federal refuges, the higher % of banded birds.
What? There's open water? Its not cold enough.
