Vermont Bow hunting Opener

Postby yellodog1 » Mon Aug 28, 2006 11:58 pm

Bow hunting starts in Vermont on Saturday October 7th, the same day as Duck hunting.

I would imagine anyone on this site would most likely be out duck hunting.

Any bow hunters out there that have given it up to go duck hunting?

Its ideal!
Get up at 2, drive 40 minutes, put in boat, run to my stake, set up, and beat away other hunters. Home by 10 with limit. Pick ducks, eat, nap, up by 2. Eat, shower, shoot bow, go out to stand. Kill deer by 6:30, home by 8. Eat tenderloins, bed by 10.

Repeat cycle 'till December
What? There's open water? Its not cold enough.

I'm done...one doe is enough for me. Not a really exciting hunt, a 5 yd shot under an apple tree, deer went 25 yds and died in about 2 seconds. Made bacon sausage yesterday. 9lbs of bacon end from Brault's meat market in Troy (cured with maple and hickory)and 20 lbs of venison scraps. I can't waqit to smell that cookng on the duck blind stove. MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm good!
