Local hatch

Postby magogwhacker » Tue Sep 17, 2013 5:29 pm

What are people seeing for local birds? Seems sort of average from what I've seen so far. A decent number of local geese, mallards, and woodies, but I haven't seen much for blue wings.
What? There's open water? Its not cold enough.

I would say average all around. Not the food like last year that is for sure. If we get some October rain it could be a good year.

i agree with chambo32!! If we get some rain, some small timber holes will hopefully be created and there are good mast crops in the woods this year! I've seen lots of acorns and beech nuts! This could mean awesome teal and wood duck hunting!! :grooving:

Not sure about you guys, but I've got a sh*t ton of rice in my opening day spot.... almost twice as much as last year.. decent numbers, though, I have not seen many mallards yet.

While building our stationary blind up north on Champlain, we are seeing lots of Mallards and Blacks. We are also seeing lots of BW Teal.
