Open Water?

Postby VTfowl » Thu Dec 12, 2013 4:54 pm

Is there any open water out there still? Hate to say it but it looks like the season might end short with this weather. Hopefully the ice doesnt ruin it for us. Any advice where to try would be appreciated

Lake Champlain........

Still a lot of open water. Just the shallow bays are froze now. At this rate the bays will be ice fishable this weekend which is sooner than the last few years. There are a lot of whistlers around and the same for mallards and blacks.

yeah i know, the only problem is my buddy's boat is all messed up so we pretty much have to hunt shore lines which is gonna be impossible to find any without 40 ft of ice

Yeah, good luck finding open water on any swamps areas... You should take a cruise through the islands, both east and west shores... You'll find something; bring a kayak for retrievals...
