Ages of hunters

Postby VT_Diver-Junkie » Fri Oct 12, 2007 8:10 am

Hey everyone I was wondering what the ages were for people in the Vermont forum. I'm wondering this because I feel like waterfowl hunting is declining in Vermont. I'm 19 and going through school there was only about 2 people I new that hunted and 1 hunted waterfowl. I here stories of when my dad was growing up through school he had at least 8 kids from his class that would go on trips with him. It sucks because I kinda fear that when my dad is too old I will be out on my own. So just wondering if its a lot of older people on here or a good mix of both. Have a nice rainy hunting day!!!!!!!
Theres nothing like frostbite and gunpowder in the air!!!!

I'm interested too. They tell us that the hunting population is aging.

I'm 39 and started waterfowling at 13 so that's 26 years of gunning journal entries
What? There's open water? Its not cold enough.

ages of hunters

Postby Atrain » Fri Oct 12, 2007 5:53 pm

I am 24 and have been waterfowling since 17, so I guess that makes about 7 years. I just finished college myself and had the same problem. Nobody to hunt ducks with. By the end of my time at school, I had one hunting buddy.

I recently located from the Burlington area down here to southern VT and am looking for others to hunt with down here. Anyone out there in the southern VT area??

47 years old.
hunting for 38.
hunted ducks for four years in my late teens into early twenties then got hooked on archery deer.
when my son got big enough to hunt we got back to ducks as he wasn't interersted in archery.
he's now 17 and we try to get out every chance for ducks, geese and deer. we also take out two 15 year old friends when we can.
If you know of any kids on the bubble, get some warm clothes on them and get them outside with you. it's a great investment for all our future.
