Bad day duck hunting=Good day for turkey

Postby yellodog1 » Tue Oct 30, 2007 6:18 am

I went out on Champlain Sunday morning, the ducks weren't flying, at least not my way. I could have shot a few mergansers, but passed them up. I picked up early and went jump shooting.
No ducks to report that day, but I ended up filling my fall Turkey tag.
I got a small 11 pound hen.

Did the same thing last week, went to see if the geese were flying and came back , went out behind the house and got an 11 lb hen myself. HAd about 20 bust out of the trees and around me when I shot.......

Haven't seen hardly any ducks at all this week, anyone else seen many.

Went out Monday morning and it was really cold only saw mallards no woodies flying at all....too cold to fly or they are gone. saw a big group of blacks and mallards on the lake Monday scouting. Have not found many geese either. hope they start coming down soon.
