Vermont Partridge and Rabbit season opener

Saturday September 27th is opening day in Vermont for Rabbit and Ruffed Grouse, otherwise known as Partridge, season.

Anybody going out Partridge hunting?

I was psyched to get out, but less so now with the forecast. Sunday's looking a little better.

No doubt about it! My vizslas are ready to get it done all weekend. I just hope I can do my part. I am generally the weakest link. I might even try to cast and blast with some brookies!

i wait to go out until woodcock opens. I find it just frustrates the dog. Plus there is always the oops..... factor. Why don't they start on the same day??

I went out yesterday and came up empty. Kicked up one bird, funny thing is I kicked up 20+ birds when scouting two weeks ago. Damn birds know the season dates I tell ya.

I had ten flushes last Saturday, but nothing in the bag. Well, eleven if you count the bird I tried to chase down after it crossed the road in front of me on my drive back. I almost did the oops thing on a doodle that flushed from my feet.
