A green head and a widgeon. Pretty Chilly at 5:30, but warmed up quick. The ducks didn't seem to be moving much with such nice weather. Tons of Canadians; too bad they are out of season for now. Molly seemed happy enough.Image

You just can't beat the openning day "salvo" 15 minutes before legal shooting.
It was quite the barrage during the first hour, too!
What a beautiful start to the day though, clear starry skies, then a nice sunrise. I don't feel so bad about not bagging anything cause I only had until 7:30 and wanted them committed to the dekes.

Ahh gotta love opening day.....Little rusty at the start but had my limit by 8:00. 4 GW teal, 1 Woodie, and a Mallard. The ole float tube came in handy again !! Works every time. HJF good luck in SASK.

It was ok, Ducks were better than my shooting. I got 1 Bluebill which everyone thought was odd(early). Should of had a woody and mallard as well. Talked with some other guys on the lake they got a bluebill as well. Didn't see as many ducks in the evening.

I went for a walk downtown last night along the bike trail and came across about 40 mallards sitting on a sand bank watching the sun go down.

Had a good opener on the lake, was foggy though. 1 banded mallard 7mallard and 1 black betwen 2 of us. Thursday was not as good 2 foot waves and only a few ducks flying. Hopefully the weekend will be better.
IF YOUR NOT ON THE LAKE, WHAT IS THE POINT.

Slowest opener I have ever seen. We knocked down 3 woodies, a BW Teal and a black on Wednesday.....between 4 of us. Last year, same hole 13 between 3, the year before 17 between 3.
Went over to the NY side of the lake Thursday We shot 5 Mallards and a black between 2 of us. Saw a bunch of ducks, had some land short on us, missed one small flock due to bad communication. Overall the NY trip was a lot better.
Have you punched a PETA member today? Why not?

thurs- 6 out of 24 in goose bay
friday- 4 out of 18 and 6 mergansers in goose bay
Sat- 5 out of 6 by 8:00 just off rock river
they flew ok on wednesday but thursday and friday were really slow, the birds dint want to work atol it was more like pass shooting in a stationary!
this morning was awsome 3 woodies- 2 hens and a drake one hen was banded-, 1 greenwing and 1 drake mallard. im headed back to that money hole in the mornin! i think they liked the fact i only had 6 dieks and a robo, i think they are already gettting shy of the stationarys and the 80 + dieks we had set out
The first two are from today and the bottom are 18 of the 22 on Wed.
