Thanks!

Hey, I'm interested in starting a local delta waterfowl chapter here. What area does the No Va chapter cover?
Thanks.

Awesome looking mounts...

If I manage to smack something special this year, beleive I want it mounted. How do you guys preserve it for the taxi? :help:
First shot I usually miss, the second I normally hit in the same spot, the third more or less is like a "screw that coot!"

some people like to put them in a nylon stocking but i've heard this can do more damage than good. just take your bird, wrap it well with saran wrap or put it in a plastic bag and freeze it before taking to the taxidermist.

I recommend having a spot in the blind/boat to put a trophy bird. I have had a few I wanted to mount and thought, hey Ill just set it on this shelf here. Well two volleys later my trophy had fallen to the floor been stepped on etc. I will keep a plastic bag in my blind bag and then if I shoot a mountable bird wrap in bag with head under wing and stick in the blind bag. Gun box or something out of the way works as well, just dont forget your bird is there.

Get home, put bird in bag in the freezer. Then send to taxi when you are ready. Pretty simple.

If I shoot something that I might want to have mounted, I will lay it nicely in my gun case and zip it up. Works well to keep the bird clean and from roaming labs who want to pick up every dead thing around.

Once home I let it cool overnight, then wrap it in a couple of plastic grocery sacks and put it in the freezer. Seems to work pretty well.

Mount Airy, that is a great looking mount you've got in Washington's Library. It really looks like it was meant to be in there. And Bird Junkie, nice collection... Those landing teal look awesome, as do the rest of the mounts.

Nice mounts everyone.

Bird Junkie, why didn't add a hen to those cock dippers? That would have been super cool.

Here are a couple from my office, the pheasant is a $5 garage sale find. He' seen better days.....

Very nice mounts all !!!! I really like the landing teal , may have to do something like that soon. I usually get all my birds mounted standing.

Got the wigeon back, well not really my folks picked it up and they will have it for a while, from George Hipes of Tailfeathers Taxidermy in Richmond.

He did a real good job. Sorry for the poor photos (iphone with bad lighting).
