Hi,
I am new to this forum. Are any of you from the Fredericksburg or Northern Virginia areas.

Just moved up here from Raleigh. Can anyone tell me if there are any DU or Delta chapters up here?

I have looked a the Virginia Game website. Boy are the laws different from NC. :help:

Hope one of you can take me under your wing. I need all the information I can get about the waterfowling laws. :help: :help:

:salude: to the site Duck, we have both orgs. active in the state of Va. Also I might add we have the Vawfa which is a waterfowl org. dedicated to helping the local hunters and the local ducks. Check us out, I hope and think you will like what I see. Again :salude:

Hi Cut_un,
Thanks for the information. What is the Vawfa? You said "local", do they provide guide service or are they a hunting club? Also, do they have a web site?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am real green about waterfowling in Virginia.

Welcome Aboard NothDuck!

The Vawfa is the Virginia Waterfowlers' Association. It is a good org that many of us on here belong to. The VAWFA is not a club or guide service. It's a good group of waterfowlers who are very proactive.

Check out the website: www.vawfa.org

Novaggie is the northern regional director for the VAWFA. If you are interested in whats available in your area. Send Jeff a PM or you can email him from the VAWFA website, just click on officers.

Also, the VAWFA is hosting Duck & Goose calling contests at the big hunting show held this weekend in Richmond. For more information about the hunting show and calling contests, check out the info on VAWFA website.

I hope you make it to one of the VAWFA's events. We would love to meet you.

Postby cut_un » Fri Aug 11, 2006 7:28 pm

Yes, Northduck, Goosesmacker is right. If you get the chance, come on down to Richmond this weekend as we will be 'talkin duck" at the Vawfa booth. It would be a great time to meet some of the members and officiers and see for your self just what "we" are up too in our state of va.

Hello, New to this site too and am just getting the sport of waterfowling. I really do not have anyone ,or any place to hunt so I am hoping to find someone or a group to hunt with. I belong to a deer club and they have a few swamps that I can hunt some wood ducks . I killed a few last year and it was great. I hope to kill my first greenhead this year.
I hope to stop by your booth and maybe join your group, if a can. When would be a good time? What do I need to do?

This weekend at the VOSS would be a good place to learn about and meet the VAWFA members.

Check out the VAWFA website at: www.vawfa.org There is a lot of good info on the site. The VOSS website addy is also available on the VAWFA site.

Wingbone, I use Hevi-shot #2's or Remington or Winchester steelshot #BB's

Are they good to eat?

Slice up the breasts, fry them with onions and green peppers.
