Looking for New Decoys

Postby NorthDuck » Wed Aug 16, 2006 9:17 pm

Guys,
I am looking for some new goose decoys. Right now, I have a bunch of old Flambeau shell decoys. I was thinking about getting some full body goose decoys to use in the fields.

What kind decoys do you'll use?

Sorry NorthDuck, maybe some "field boys" will jump in on the post. most/all mine is over water so floaters are the order of the day.

We have a several guys on here that are "into the field hunts" big time, Big foot, flocked heads"motion stakes", they have enclosed trailers full of them. It's a sight to see, I hope they will be able to answer all your questions :umm: :umm: :umm: Anyone????

Good Luck!!!

NorthDuck,

I would definetly invest in FB decoys to add to your spread, With todays hunting pressure on the geese you need realism in your spread. As the season progresses the birds become more educated. Early season the shells and silo's will work on the younger birds but they learn quickly.

I presently have 12 Big foots that I place closest to where I would like the birds to land, I usally set 3 -4 decoys 20 yds downwind from the spread to simulate a group that has just landed and is walking towards the main spread. Geese are pretty competitive and incoming birds will try to land ahead of these 3-4 decoys in the sweet spot. (some days they just land where ever they want  ) I have 10 dz shells and silo's that I fill in upwind of the FB decoys.

Good luck :salude:

Northduck,
I would recommend the Avery full bodies with flocked heads or the Bigfoots with flocked heads.

I have learned my lessons wasting my time and money with the other brands.

I carry my ATV, blinds and 96 full bodies decoys in my 6 x12 trailer.

If you have any questions, please feel free to sent me a PM anytime.

Northduck, you need to talk to Goosesmacker, I was lucky enough to hunt with him a time or two. He and his "possy" are goose killing machines.
You should slip by and take a look at his "rig" it's a work of art  He put out as fine a spread as you will ever see :salude:
