Planning on doing some cutting on this thing tomorrow. I'll post pics when it starts to look like a duck.

I'd like to take a turn with it!
Only point i'd like to make is to make the decoy something that is pretty common to all of us.... Living in central VA. some of those suggestions listed on the pool are not common to my area...

both Have Gun and goosehunter's blocks look AWESOME so far. I was privileged enough to get to see them both work on them today.

Have Gun is carving a black duck and goose is carving a scaup.

The one I am carving looks more like a segull mixed with a grebe. I hope you all like it. My carving skills are like that of a six year old blind girl.

Grebe you say? There's a group of waterfowl killing machines out west in VA that might want a rig of those. :lol3: I made some changes to mine last night. It came out more like a guinea hen than a duck. Might have to put a motion stake on it rather than a keel.

Sounds like the traveling decoy may be enjoying the hunt from inside the blind.

I'm in, with a request for HG's block. Might as well make it an annual tradition.

Have some faith man. :lol3: I reworked it and brought it back to the waterfowl side of things. Got it hollowed last night, glued the bottom up, and got the head on.

I bought that thing from wallmart for five bucks in the seagull section. I think we need the traveling crab pot decoy too.

I painted the scaup a few weeks ago and it turned out ok. Painting is not my strong point. Well, neither is carving. So, I hope you all dont mind hunting over the seagull I carved that is painted to look like a coot/pintail/woodduck hybrid.

Doug can you post a picture of the scaup please?
Cheers

I would wait for season dates...makes planning a lot easier. That is how we run it for the DHC traveling decoys...
