Out with the old Blinds !

Postby LEWDOG » Wed Jul 31, 2013 10:08 am

My blinds have given me many years of good hunts and each could be repaired with little work but there days are numbered .

My plan is to build a fixed blind on a hull of a boat so I can take the blind home during foul weather or to turn it to keep the wind on my back while hunting . A 12 volt winch and anchor will pull them to where the old blinds were and back out if there is a need . The old boats I have will carry the blind as well the bushing just like a floating blind but b/c of the GPS numbers on the blind license it can only be hunted in one place . The best part of it all is I get to build 4 stationary blinds in the shade or at night on dry land with electric tools in the back yard .

How many scalps has that blind placard in #2 claimed when a knot of birds came in? Can't think of a worse spot to mount that thing.

The last one is the oldest , parts of it are 20 years old . the tags are placed on them so I can get them off once the new blinds are there to replace the old . Once Nov. 1ST comes and goes the tags will be out of sight for the rest of the season. Dummy blinds are what one has to deal with on rivers, it's why I don't hunt rivers .

Last jan I saw a huge 20-22 ft pontoon completely brushed as a float blind someone had spent some serious time and money on it.

A float blind has to take what nature throws at it on the water which has me thinking I'll be able to go a little more being what I'm building will be high up on the shore 99% of the time . I am going to drag the first tri-hull out of the backyard of the farm today and bring her home so I can start the gutting . Off the top of my head I'm thinking I have a pickup truck cap that would make a great roof over the dry room of the blind . The shooting hole will be off the back which will leave a 5 foot front section for decoy storage or a kitchen .

Just think what one could build if 2 boat hulls was join together like a pontoon boat :grooving: .

Now for some more great words about my stay the heck away duck blinds . The Goose blind is going to be a double blind so I can shoot em coming and going . Plus I am going to deck the boat over so I can leave my goose decoy rigged on two longlines ready for a quick set .

Aggie this just in ! Why build 4 new blinds when all I have to do is repair the old blinds and build one tri hull blind that can be taken out to location if and when it's needed .
