They're Back!

Postby Islander Gunner » Wed Aug 07, 2013 3:47 pm

Had four bluewings on my pond this afternoon, right on schedule, heard a report of a hen pintail amongst a flock of mallards last week. Typical...they'll all be in Florida sipping Margaritas before our early season comes in.

Heard the bluewings had arrived at USFWS Refuge at Back Bay last week...think they said pintails also.

Being seeing singles and pairs in the valley for several weeks, small groups showed up this past weekend.

Surely, you can provide a quote where I said exactly that.

Because this...

... doesn't mean what you think it does.

Residents have been bunching up a little early this year (about a week or more in my area)...pond numbers have doubled in that time. Usually see this activity the end of this month.

The geese should have no problem finding corn this year. Infact, theres so much good looking tall corn in the state that it may scatter the birds, but most geese typically use the same fields year after year and abandon other fields all together.

Saw two very large flocks of teal yesterday heading right down the bay while fishing.
