Postby skimerhorn » Fri Oct 04, 2013 4:46 pm

I drew my swan tag and Amelia turkey for the spring. I'm trying to lock down a spot for the swan, have something in the works but nothing definite. Would anyone be interested in trading a day of swan hunting for a day with me at the Amelia wma turkey hunting? I'm allowed two guests so I don't see why we couldn't do that? Just throwing it out there if anybody is interested let me know.

Your post made me check and I got selected for a swan tag too. So I'm also looking to get in on a swan hunt.

I think it has been said before on here about getting swan tag and no idea on how or where to harvest one...so get ready for the blasting from some of the users on here.

What the heck, I'll start.

So basically you deprived somebody with an actual chance at shooting a swan a tag? :clapping:

And this is what is wrong with putting this stuff on the internet. Back in the olden days when you had to send in a 3x5 card people thought more about this stuff.

Didn't think it would hurt to ask. But I will use it even if I have to pay a guide to take me, so it won't go to waste.

Hey cookie, ROMO?! How dare you call me a Cowboy! That's below the belt.

I could have put in for every quota hunt there including the Amelia Turkey but I didn't because I wouldn't go. How would the poster have felt if I said I won the Amelia Turkey but hey, I don't plan to go because I don't really turkey hunt. I am sure the locals wouldn't be to happy about that.

Maybe people don't know there are only 500 tags for Virginia. I suggest putting in for one of NCs 5000 tags, they might not mind as much if you waste a few.

BTW I got mine but I have friends that didn't; sucks for them.

Like I said I'm goin to use the tag. I have spots to go they just don't have a lot of swan, mostly they pass over. And if I can't get one on my own I'm gonna pay a outfitter or guide to take me. So it will not be wasted. I thought I could throw out the idea of offering up a trade to see if anybody would be interested. I'm not asking anyone to just take me to there spot and let me just shoot there birds. I wouldn't apply for a tag if I couldn't make every effort to fill it. If it doesn't get filled it won't be because I just sat at home and didn't use it. I'm a hunter just like everyone else on here, and wouldn't take a opportunity from another hunter for nothing. I will put in the time and effort to try to make it happen. Just because I don't have a spot where I can easily kill one, doesn't mean that I can't do it.

Cookie,

Goooose and I are friends, propably a concept that you are not familiar with. Friends generally tend to agree with each other on things hece forth they get along. Perhaps another concept you are not familiar with.

Now I didn't go off calling anybody names or anything like that but I don't think it is polite or considerate to deprive your fellow hunters of opportunity if you are not going to use it. I said my opion, if you don't agree, that's fine, your opinion is as valid as mine or anyones. Too bad you can't have a civilized conversation without caling names or some other immature personal attack; it would make for a better web site.

If he is going to use the tag, fine, great. I wish him good luck.

Oh yeah, Cookie, one more thing... :nana:

And if you want a blind too, I can arrange that for you too. It is a fantastic location and we have shot a ton of birds from it over the years. No charge, just build, brush it, and give me a kiss.

PM me if you would like to discuss this further.
