Hunting a Roost

Postby G3duck » Thu Oct 10, 2013 10:48 am

Went into a swamp the other week lookink for Teal. Got there about 15-20 minutes before LST and jumped up a bunch of Woodies. Only a very few ever came back.

Any suggestions on how to hunt a spot like that?

Spot light, canoe, and a shotgun . Just make sure when your buddy hits em with the spotlight he follows them while the other guy shoots.

You dont shoot the roost until the last week of the season. Many of us have made the same mistake. Toss in some feed and hopefully they come back.

Double up on the get in there time and try again . Do you have a night trail going into the spot , if not clear and mark it during the middle of the day for a straight path to the best shoot zone . I agree this 4 day season is the one to bust a roost , hit it hard once and move on to the next .
