Jan. temps in Nov.

Postby LEWDOG » Sun Nov 24, 2013 11:34 am

So it's 36* at noon w/ wind blowing hard out of the North here in the Mid Atlantic and worst as you look North , could it be the big push of birds we all have wish for year after year that never came ? The word is Rain Tue. and Wed. following these two cold sunny days with only a few clouds high in the sky with bait , feed , Impoundments working , and most crops harvested so what's left is for the wild , do you think any South bound birds will take a break here on the Va. waters ?
I would bet that a strong outbreak of Dukmen flu will hit starting Monday and run through the week  .

I don't give a quack how cold it will be in the morning. Have a location scouted that has both ducks and geese. I am off Monday and Tuesday and I will be on the water at legal shooting time. My only worry is if I have to ice skate to set decoys out. :grooving: :grooving: :welcome:

Definitely a lot of new birds here. This weekend definitely put them on the move. Saw lots of mallards and a few bluebills. Shoot two geese, one was banded. I'm hunting somewhere between Alexandria and Norfolk.

We definitely seen a few more divers moving in, just hoping they stick around and quit using that bay as a super highway to NC

HA, wasn't 24 degrees where I was at. Culpeper Co. at 0600 14 degrees without the wind. Figure it out with a 10 mph breeze. Sure was cold but got 1 wood duck and got caught setting out field dekes by the geese. Set em out 15 minutes too late. Oh well there will be tomorrow and next week.

And BTW, everyone take care on the roads Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Going to be wet and slick.  Be careful.
