The ducks are starting to show up. Must have seen 200+ today. Also went goose scouting. Not many geese flying right now. I got 70 on the golf course that we are gonna hunt friday morning. The are a few on the river. Hopefully with in the next two weeks we will start seeing those early migrators that we have shot the past three seasons. Hope everyone is having good luck with the birds. Has anyone seen any teal yet???????

First day out this season and i was one bird short of my limit. Me and two buddies killed 9 geese this morning. Boy does it feel good to be hunting again. Could have gone without the bad smell when we where cleaning them. Saw over 200 mallards and i am sure a few blacks. Come on OCTOBER.

My hunting buddy slipped off on opening morning and hunted the James River. Found it to be fantastic , Killed a limit of 5 in a hurry and said he could have killed ducks all morning long! Sounds like things are working out great for the fowlers and not so good for the fowl!

looks like i should have gone with you. All my buddies bailed on me at the last monment this last night. Got to hear all the shooting in my back yard this morning tho. I am really dissappointed. If this is a repeat of last year, it gonna suck.

lol i was huntin the mighty james too. i missed a pair of mallards (pretty far away though) and totally missed 3 ducks (they looked like pintails!)....they came in behind me cupped, i turned around, they saw me and then heard wings and they were gone; no shots, just a jaw dropping and no chance at shootin at em

im the one on the right with the two drakes ....the other drake i shot somehow got nocked out of the boat when we were pushing it out of the mud (low tide, dark out). we get back, and there is only two drakes  but hey, we still had an excellent hunt

Did not kill a limit of anything but hunting on the James did see lots of geese and ducks. Greenheads were everywhere, saw several groups of teal, woodies and a few blacks. Seems to be good numbers of new ducks and geese down from the north. Now we need some skies other than BLUE

Hunting with Lewdog in Mathews, another bluebird day and very little wind. We did manage to knock down a few buffleheads and ruddy ducks, mostly pass shooting as boat traffic stirred them up  My take was 1 ruddy.

Between my wife being in the hospital and me running around like chicken with my head cut off I have managed to hunt four mornings. My wife came out the hospital tuesday and I would like to thank everyone for the prayers you guys sent out for her. She is doing much better now. Back to the hunting. We have had good success. 34 ducks out of one blind consisting of:
greenwing teals
mallards
black ducks
widgeon
bluewing teal - this guy must have been lost.
We had a large number of ducks in the marsh until wed. morning and then 85% of them left on a cold front. The hunting has still been ok even after the masses left on wed.
